The Blueprint (Role Profile)
The Saw Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and minor maintenance of automatic saws used in the production process. This is a 1st shift position, working 4 days a week 10 hours a day Monday through Thursday 5 AM to 3 PM.

The Build (Responsibilities)
- Set-up, operate, and monitor automatic saws to cut steel to specified lengths according to production orders.
- Read prints and work orders to complete jobs accurately.
- Perform quality checks using calipers, tape measures, and other tools and make visual checks to identify nonconformances and troubleshoot errors.
- Operate manual die grinders and press machines as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment when required.
- Safety load and unload trucks/containers.
- Organize, label, and maintain steel yard.
- Track material usage and production counts.
- Perform regular cycle counts as requested.
- Notify supervisor of shortages or other problems that could impact product availability.
- Move material to and from work area.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures to produce a quality product, including reporting non-conforming materials and scrap.
- Report unusual conditions or questionable items to supervisor.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
- Keep work area clean and orderly.
- Maintain records as required.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
The Toolbox (Qualifications)
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 years’ relevant work experience.
- Mechanical abilities and experience using hand tools.
- Able to read and interpret documents including production orders, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using all units of measure.
- Previous forklift and overhead hoist operation experience required.
- Able to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) including Fridays as required.
- Stand and walk continuously for 8 hours, if necessary.
- Climb stairs and ladders.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Work in a high temperature environment.
